How to compress a PDF to 100 KB

01

Drop your PDF

The target is already set to 100 KB. You can change it if your limit is different.

02

Click Compress

We try a lossless clean-up first, then step down image quality only as far as needed to fit.

03

Check and download

You see the exact final size before you download. If 100 KB can’t be reached without wrecking readability, we tell you.

What fits in 100 KB?

At 100 KB expect a visible quality drop on scans. It works well for 1–2 page documents, not for long reports. As a rough guide, 100 KB holds about 1–4 scanned pages. A PDF made of real text (exported from Word or Google Docs) is far smaller than a scan of the same pages, so it often fits without any quality loss.

We count 100 KB as 100,000 bytes — slightly under what some systems allow (102,400 bytes) — so the file passes either way.

Why people use Compress PDF to 100 KB

Government portals
“File size must not exceed 100 KB.”

The strictest limit we see — common for identity, address and caste or category certificates on official sites.

Admit cards & certificates
“Upload a 1-page PDF under 100 KB.”

Single-page certificates and mark sheets usually fit with readable text.

Signatures & declarations
“Signed declaration, max 100 KB.”

Sign the form with Sign PDF, then compress it here.

Why not just pick “Strong” compression?

Fixed presets either over-compress (your file is far below 100 KB and blurrier than it needed to be) or under-compress (it’s still too big). A target size keeps the highest quality that still fits your limit — and everything happens on your device, which matters when the document is an ID, a bank statement or a medical record.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress a PDF to 100 KB?

Drop the PDF on this page and click Compress — the 100 KB target is preset. Download the result once it shows the final size.

Is 100 KB realistic for my file?

For 1–4 scanned pages, usually yes. For a 20-page scanned report, no — it would become unreadable. In that case split the file, or check whether the portal accepts a link or several uploads.

Tips for hitting 100 KB

Delete pages you don’t need (Delete PDF Pages), scan in black and white if the portal allows it, and crop away empty borders before converting photos to PDF.

What if it can’t get under 100 KB?

We show the smallest readable result and say so. Remove unneeded pages with Delete PDF Pages, or split the file into parts with Split PDF and compress each.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your files are opened and processed by code running in this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server — you can confirm it in your browser’s Network panel, or by turning off Wi-Fi after the page loads.

Is it really free?

Yes. No daily limits, no sign-up and no watermark. Because the work happens on your device, it costs us nothing to run — the site is supported by unobtrusive ads.
